YouTube Takes a Part of TikTok Popularity!
YouTube has reported in June this year that it’s preparing a short-video recording feature in its platform. This was bluntly translated to cash on the popularity of TikTok, which has gained millions of users every month this year. YouTube has today came up with a pre-beta version of this feature, and announced to launch in India initially. Why India? TikTok was recently banned in India along with few other Chinese apps over security reasons. This left the multi-billion dollar market empty and given a boost to local firms like Roposo, Chingari, Sharechat and Mitron. The sudden opportunity has even attracted tech giants like Facebook, which has launched Reels in its Instagram soon. And now, Google’s YouTube is cashing on this huge market, where TikTok earlier has more than 110 million active users. YouTube explained this feature will let users create and upload a short video of upto 15 seconds. The video could be recorded in parts and combined at the end with the combination of background music. YouTube said there’s a collection of over 100,000 tracks to choose from, and would expand with more soon. The button for recording this will be set at the centre of bottom menu, between Explore and Subscriptions, with a “+” symbol. Tapping that you’d be shown options like “Create a short video”, “Go live” and “Upload a video” to create the content.
