Out of the two colors we received the Cosmic Grey variant that looked sleek and stylish. The back has a matte finish which feels excellent in hand. The back contains Motorola branding at the bottom, a logo in the center, and a square camera module at the top-left that consists of triple camera lenses with LED flash. The camera module is in a dual shade which blends well with the rest of the backside. The best part about the rear of the device it remains smudge and fingerprint free. The right edge of the smartphone consists of volume rockers and a power button whereas the left edge is left idle. The top side houses Dolby Atmos branding and a microphone whereas the bottom edge contains a SIM tray, speaker grille, and USB Type-C charging port. The 3.5mm headphone jack is missing which is really a bummer. The front consists of a tall P-OLED display made of glass. The display is slightly curved on the sides with very thin bezels all around. The selfie lens is placed in the middle of the screen at the top side. Coming to the feel of the device in the hand, the grip feels comfortable and not bulky. The smartphone is 7.45mm thick and weighs 175 grams which makes it slim and lightweight, thus increasing its good in-hand feel. The Moto Edge 30 Fusion comes with an IP52 rating for protection against dust and water, so your device is well protected. Moto Edge 30 Fusion Review: Display

The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion sports a 6.55-inch P-OLED display with a hole punch cutout at the top. The size of the screen looks tall and the visuals look big on the screen. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate which makes everything feel fluid which can be felt while scrolling on the device and gaming as well. The screen gets 1100 nits of peak brightness which makes it perfect for use both indoors and outdoors. The visuals on the screen are vibrant and full of life.  The display gives pretty sharp visuals and is ultra-smooth during scrolling. Consuming OTT content is a good experience due to its punchy colors and excellent contrast levels. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 so it doesn’t scratch or shatter that easily.

Moto Edge 30 Fusion Review: Camera

The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion has a triple camera setup at the back. The setup includes a 50MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide sensor, and a depth sensor for good photography. The front has a 32MP selfie camera. The camera interface is clean with features like Portrait Mode, Video, Night Vision, Auto Smile Capture, Timelapse, and more. The main 50MP camera takes decent shots in daylight. The images are bright, crisp, and detailed and the colors are accurate too. The edges are clear and the overall quality of the images is good compared to other phones in its segment. However, when there is darkness and light is low, there is sharp degradation in the quality of the images. The detailing becomes less and the noise becomes more prominent. Coming the 13MP ultrawide sensor, it captures good shots in natural light. The FOV is good and the shots come out with an average amount of detail. The blues, blacks, and reds look fine but the greens could have been better. Similarly, in low light conditions, the performance of the ultrawide camera dips by a few notches. Some night shots below- There is no telephoto lens, which is the biggest drawback of the rear camera setup. There is a depth sensor but that doesn’t serve any purpose. Coming to the selfie lens, the 32MP camera at the front takes good shots in daylight. The focus is kept on the subject(s) in the frame and the background is kept secondary. Group selfies are easy to take as the selfie lens covers a good FOV. The selfies have real skin tones and detailing as well. ALSO READ: Realme 9i 5G Review: Stylish, Dependable, Affordable

Moto Edge 30 Fusion Review: Performance

While we talked about the physical appearance of the Moto Edge 30 Fusion in the Design section, let’s talk about the other important half – its Performance. The Moto Edge 30 Fusion flagship device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset. As the name indicates, it supports 5G and belongs to the flagship 8-series of the semiconductor company. The processor is fast and can handle all sorts of workloads. This can be felt while you perform a number of tasks on your device. The apps open and load quickly and run seamlessly in the background. With 8GB RAM, the smartphone allows you to switch between apps without lags or crashes. Even if a game is running in the background, none of the other running apps stutter or slow down. Some benchmark tests were performed on the smartphone and the results are below- It gives ample storage to save your important documents, videos, photos, apps, and more. The Moto Edge 30 Fusion runs on Android 12-based MyUX skin out of the box. Like all other Motorola devices, this one too gives a near-stock Android experience with a layer of custom features like gestures, wallpapers, etc. The UI is clean with almost no bloatware and no adware. Motorola has promised 2 major Android updates and 3 years of software support for the smartphone. One department, where the smartphone disappoints is thermal performance. The smartphone heated up quite a lot during the benchmark tests as well as gaming. Even while charging, it got too hot to touch. Heating up while gaming is the most inconvenient as it becomes a task to continue playing the game if the device keeps getting hotter. During my experience, it started heating up after almost 25 minutes of a gaming session. I had to discontinue the game I was playing as the device was getting tougher to hold due to heat. Motorola could have worked in this department. For the audio, the smartphone has Dolby Atmos stereo speakers. The phone’s earpiece doubles as a secondary speaker for stereo sound and during my usage, the audio was just about average. Especially at higher levels, the sound lacked depth and character. Even while calling, the audio sometimes sounds very low and though this might be due to signal issues, signal issues can’t happen every time and everywhere right? Even when signal strength was full, the audio was not clear. All in all, the audio is not match the superior display quality that Edge 30 Fusion offers. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack and no dongle in the box, so this is a slight niggle, but then this is the age of TWS so the lack of a headphone jack can be overlooked. Moto Edge 30 Fusion Review: Battery

The Moto Edge 30 Fusion packs a 4400mAh battery. The battery feels lighter on paper than the normal 5000mAh batteries found on maximum smartphones. However, the battery does last an entire day with light to moderate usage. With heavy usage, the battery will need to be recharged before the day ends. The 4400mAh battery comes with 68W Turbo Power charging capability. Fast charging makes sure that the battery gets ample power for the day with just 10 minutes of charging. The battery charged 50% in 12 minutes and 100% in less than 25 minutes. The fast charging speeds make up for the slightly weaker battery amp.

Moto Edge 30 Fusion Review Verdict: Should you buy it?

The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion has a good design and strong build quality. The smartphone comes with a good AMOLED display, a fast processor, and fast charging capability as well. Though it lags behind in terms of low light camera performance its 5G capability and premium specs make up for it. If you are into hardcore gaming, you should keep in mind that Snapdragon 888+ tends to raise the phone’s temperature but if you are a casual gamer shouldn’t worry much. Motorola is offering a flagship device under the 45k budget range and though it will face tough competition from Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G, OnePlus 10R 5G, and Realme GT Neo 3, its top-of-the-line specs and beautiful design can definitely make it a hit among the masses.
